After each use, it is recommended to wash the cutting board with warm water and a mild dish soap. This method effectively removes food particles and bacteria without damaging the wood. To maintain the wood's natural luster and prevent it from drying out, it is advisable to coat the cutting board with food-safe mineral oil once a month. The application process is straightforward and involves the following steps:
1. Wash the cutting board with hot water and a sponge to remove any residual oils or food particles.
2. Place the cutting board on its edge to dry for approximately 3 to 5 hours. This allows for adequate air circulation, ensuring that the wood dries completely.
3. Using a clean rag, apply one ounce of food-safe mineral oil to both sides and the edges of the board. This oil penetrates the wood, providing a protective barrier against moisture and enhancing its appearance.
4. After application, wipe off any excess oil to prevent a sticky residue from forming.
